Hawaii - The Colorful. The Tropical. A True Happy Place.

"Ua mau ke ea o ka `aina i ka pono. " (The life of the land is preserved in righteousness.) - Motto of Hawaii

Most people from outside the US think Hawaii is a single island. Truth is, it kind of is, or rather an archipelago reaching up from a massive underwater chain of mountains. The tips of this mountain ridge, visible overwater, make up the islands. But underwater, these are a collective mass, also known as the Hawaiian ridge.

Hawaii consists of hundreds of islands, though the biggest 8 (Hawai'i, Maui, Kaua'i, Lana'i, O'ahu, Moloka'i, Ni'ihau, Kaho'olawe) are the well-know, often traveled and inhabited ones.

We've been to two of the islands yet, the emerald green island of Kaua'i and Hawai'i, also called the Big Island. Hawaii is definitely more than just one state. It's rather a collection of entirely different bodies that share a common soul and the grace and spirit of this tropical paradise.

From snorkeling to Manta Ray diving, skydiving, inspiring photography spots, fresh food and endless beaches, volcanoes and rainforests - Hawai'i is definitely worth the 5 hour flight from California.
